Another point that came to mind is we all know the automakers initially offer certain plugins only on the west coast (maximizing their carbon credits to sell profitable ice). So why not take advantage of being on the west coast to try these EVs?
As far as I know the Kia Soul EV is not offered outside CA. From what I can tell with a web search the Santa Cruz Kia dealership does not offer the Soul EV. So, here is a kia dealership that is near Monterey but over the hill (Santa Cruz Mountains) located in San Jose (Silicon Valley): http://www.capitolkiasanjose.com/all-inventory/index.htm?listingConfigId=auto-all&compositeType=&internetPrice=&exteriorColor=&make=Kia&model=Soul+EV Capitol Kia 755 Capitol Expressway Automall, San Jose, CA 95136 Sales (888) 928-1815 http://www.capitolkiasanjose.com/dealership/directions.htm The VW e-golf and Fiat 500e are offered outside CA, so if you are inclined to check them out, here are some contacts: http://www.scsuperstore.com/models/volkswagen-egolf 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf at Santa Cruz Nissan Dodge Volkswagen (800) 544-4331 for availability http://www.cardinalevw.com/inventory-details/title/New-2015-Volkswagen-e-Golf-4dr-HB-SEL-Premium-Gilroy-CA/vehicleid/1367648 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf 4dr HB SEL Premium (at Salinas dealer) Call Now: (888) 314-6063 http://www.fiatusaofmonterey.com/new-inventory/index.htm?model=500e&make=FIAT 2015 FIAT 500e Battery Electric 1725 Auto Center Parkway Seaside, CA 93955 Studio: (888) 687-1345 Though quick Level-3 may not be a keen interest of Bob's, it might be wise to use the opportunity to try it just for the experience. This could be done as simply as after the test drive doing a 5min L3 charge before returning to the dealership. The Kia Soul EV would use the same CHAdeMO L3 that Nissan (Leaf) does, and the VW e-golf would use the SAE combo GM bullied/pushed for. Using the filters on plugshare.com would show where the L3 EVSE are and how to use them. The CHAdeMO at a Nissan dealership might be free, but the SAE Combo in this area would likely be on a NRG EVSE, and would have a use-fee (~$7 per charge), which could be called in using their toll free telephone number and a credit card. Bob may never want or need an L3 charge again, but he would now have a L3 charging experience to speak from. {brucedp.150m.com} -- View this message in context: http://electric-vehicle-discussion-list.413529.n4.nabble.com/EV-activity-in-Monterey-Calif-tp4673527p4673533.html Sent from the Electric Vehicle Discussion List mailing list archive at Nabble.com. _______________________________________________ UNSUBSCRIBE: http://www.evdl.org/help/index.html#usub http://lists.evdl.org/listinfo.cgi/ev-evdl.org For EV drag racing discussion, please use NEDRA (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NEDRA)
