It's becoming clearer with every passing week that it's exceedingly 
difficult to secure any "smart" device.  This brave new world, the "internet 
of things," is shaping up to be mostly spyware and problems.

IMO there's no need for the majority of these items to be networked anyway. 
The slight additional convenience is more than offset by the loss of privacy 
and potential for ID theft.

As for EV charging, just give me a simple 240v receptacle and I'll be fine, 
thanks.  A circuit breaker is all the "smarts" I need.  In fact, I wish 
someone would develop an interface that does the exact opposite of this -- 
makes a smart EVSE dumb.
