Thanks Phil
I didn’t know the AC goes off when you close the door. I’ve asked several Tesla
folks around here and thought you had to remember to turn it off or lock the
doors. The key fob is more reliable than a dead cell phone.
Best regards

Uhm, the accessories most definitely turn off when the doors are shut. The
HVAC goes off immediately (unless someone is sitting in the front seats), and
the Accy rail goes off about 10 minutes later depending on what mode the power
state machine is in. (Sentry mode, etc)

Hard to believe you and the wife don't use a smartphone at all which would
relegate the backup key as a card in your wallet, as your phone makes the
action of handling a key unnecessary unless you lose it or it's dead. Yeah,
grumble-grumble, get off my lawn, but I've since went to fingerprint locks on
my doors, and don't carry keys anymore, it's really nice!

For the same reason soldering is not recommended for applications where there
is vibration and movement, you may soon find the solder wick will work harden
quickly where you soldered it, and the expensive (and redundant) fob will be
lost in short order. Besides, I bet she carries a purse, which is a fine
place to leave the fob/card, as you don't really ever need to touch it.
