I think the Telo will be a better product, though it's projected to cost
more. Seeing that Amazon is backing the Slate, it has a high chance of
making it to market. Telo doesn't have that, but it does have a CTO from
Tesla (Forrest North), cofounder from Tesla (Mark Tarpenning), and a few
other top people.
Benefits
- shorter (152" v 175")
- holds 4x8 building materials, flat, with tailgate shut
- seats 5 with mid gate up
- 350 mile range, with larger battery
- planned to also have a minivan version
The latter - minivan - appears to be nearly identical to the truck with
a canopy. However, it would be one piece and, I imagine (but don't
know), that the rear access would be a hatch rather than a tailgate.
Telo has also designed it to handle a payload of 2000 pounds (from their
website) and towing of 6600 pounds (motortrend).
I hope this comes to market !

I would think that there are going to be lots of people interested and willing
to plunk down $50 as a reservation. Even if you spend $5k on accessories, that
make the truck only $25k. It carries a full 4x8 sheet of plywood or sheetrock
with the tailgate open so it is a great construction work truck. 150 miles is a
lot more than most trucks drive so the range is acceptable.
As I'm sure we all know the truck market in the US and in other countries is a
major market. The buyer will be able to do outrageous graphics and convert it
from a truck to a hatchback in minutes.
What I find interesting is the lack of guages, as I understand it you'll have a
special place to mount your phone or even an ipad...
I just might put down $50 and sell my Tesla to pay for the truck...
