That's pretty cool. I can't see the US doing that for a while, partially
because the president's armored vehicle is taken on board "airforce 1"
wherever they go. I don't think they want a huge bank of charged lithium
cells onboard...
As for range of the No 8: at low speeds in town, I'm sure it gets
terrible range. But, how much range do you really need in town ? On
highways, if the president were to use it that way, it might do very
close to spec. After all, at constant speed on autoroutes (freeways)
without any really steep climbs, the biggest factor is Cd, not weight.

The 8th of May is a holiday in France - Armistice Day. This year's was
notable for being the 80th anniversary, and because French president
Emmanuel Macron rode to the Paris commemoration in his spiffy new EV.
The "Presidential No 8" is a custom-built EV based on DS Automobiles' new No
8 luxury EV.
The No. 8 has a Cd of 0.24 and a WLTP range of 750km. The presidential
version is armored and bulletproof, so you can bet it's gained lots of
weight; thus I strongly doubt that it will have the same range. The drive is
rated 242bhp and the battery capacity is 97.2kWh. I haven't yet found any
info on battery chemistry.
Stellantis, DS's parent company, claim that Macron is the "first president
of a republic to have an official electric car."
Previously, Macron used a true-hybrid DS 7.
French presidents have been riding in DSes since 1958. Back then, the
Citroen DS was an aerodynamic technological marvel. It had front wheel
drive, disc brakes, and a funky self-leveling hydropneumatic suspension that
raised the car to driving height when the engine was started.
DS was spun off from Citroen as a separate luxury marque in 2009.
