For one thing, ANY vehicle that is a lot larger than whatever it hits IS going to do more damage to whatever it hits. So, for your pedestrian example - pretty much ANY vehicle hitting them is a likely major injury/death event.

On the other hand, my CyberTruck is likely to SEE the pedestrian and automatically apply brakes, unlike the vast majority of non-Tesla vehicles. Just tonight, it noticed a Raccoon crossing the road and slowed down to avoid it.
