I don't understand why is this still in question.

Sure, it'll work, but the 10-50 is no longer code approved - hasn't been for
about 30 years - and is obsolete. So you can't install one and be code-
compliant.

You may think this is no big deal, until you go to sell your house and the
buyer's home inspector flags the violation. Good bet that the buyer will
insist that you hire an electrician to fix it. And it could be expensive to
find one who can do so before your sale closing date.

Also:

Anything you can still plug into a 10-50 has to be at least 30 years old.
EVSEs didn't exist 30 years ago. Where did you find an EVSE with an
attached 10-50p? Or did you attach it yourself?

A 10-50P/R at the hardware store is there only because it's still OK to use
for replacing a worn-out or broken one. But I would argue that even when
replacing an old 10-50R, you're better off installing a 14-50 recept and a
new 3+G homerun to the panel.

You could install a NEMA 6-50R instead - two mains and ground, no neutral.
You'd need a ground wire (bare or green) in the cable or conduit to your
box. I don't think it's code-allowed to re-identify a white neutral as a
green ground.

This also assumes that your EVSE has a 6-50P attached. Having never shopped
for an EVSE in the US, corded or otherwise, I don't know how many have a 6-
50P vs 14-50P.

In my book, there is just no good argument for installing a 10-50 receptacle
for any purpose.
