PDTSubject: Tesla flipped over and burning: SHAME ON THE EDITOR and KQED!
Today at 7:30am & 7:50 am a traffic report said "a Tesla has flipped over and
is burning holding up traffic". This is the first time I have heard any traffic
report mentioning a car brand or type in a traffic incident. I just heard it
again, before the hour, while writing this. Promelgating the myth that electric
cars burn more than gas cars is not reality. Heard it again. This is
propaganda! Below from Google.Based on analyses of vehicle fire data (including
data from the NTSB, Bureau of Transportation Statistics, and insurance
studies), vehicle fire rates vary significantly by propulsion type per 100,000
sold, with hybrids having the highest, gasoline vehicles in the middle, and
electric vehicles (EVs) having the lowest.
Vehicle Fire Rates (per 100,000 Sold)Hybrid Vehicles: ~3,475 fires per
100,000Gasoline Vehicles (ICE): ~1,530 fires per 100,000Electric Vehicles (EV):
~25 fires per 100,000
Key Data Breakdown by Type (per 100,000 increments)Hybrid (Highest Risk): These
vehicles utilize both an internal combustion engine and a high-voltage battery
system, combining fire risks from fuel leaks and electrical shorts, resulting
in the highest reported incidents.Gasoline (Moderate Risk): These vehicles
catch fire significantly less often than hybrids, with fires typically stemming
from fuel leaks, electrical shorts, or overheated catalytic converters,
particularly in older vehicles.Electric (Lowest Risk): Despite news focus, EVs
have the lowest fire frequency, with studies indicating they are over 60 times
less likely to catch fire than gas-powered vehicles.
Notes on Causes and DataRecalls: Gasoline vehicles have historically had more
recalls related to fire risks. Why Hybrids Rank Highest: Their complex,
dual-propulsion system provides more potential failure points. Why EV Fires are
Misunderstood: While rare, EV fires are often harder to extinguish and can
re-ignite after 24 hours.
I expect an explanation and apology to the public, on air, for this misleading
reporting. It reinforces the myth that electric vehicles burn more than other
cars. The flipping over is another issue. Probably reckless driving in a car
that has a lot of power. Tesla Model Y (Recent Global Leader): In 2023, the
Tesla Model Y became the first electric vehicle to lead global annual sales.
Some reports indicate it maintained this top spot through 2024 and 2025,
reaching a cumulative 4 million units sold by early 2026. Report this along
with the apology. Heard it again at 8:20 AM. SHAME ON THE EV HATE. Lawrence

because it is not needed.
