You do have a point.  Bear in mind that almost all fire dept. vehicles have a 
Kussmaul auto eject shore power plug for 120V AC power.  But those plugs are 
designed to be ejected, and the plug is cheap to replace if needed (compared to 
a charger connection).  I had one on my previous truck and one of these day I 
will on the Lightning (for my Aux 12 V system - and maybe a battery maintainer 
for the vehicle 12 V battery).

Why would you want it to do that? Sounds like a good way to have cords
end up flinging onto the ground and possible damaging the ends of the
connector.
