I haven’t received any response to my question from Friday, so I thought I would try just one more time, and copy the question to the cataloging list, in case someone there has some input. Does anyone know how the Alternative Chronology Captions is supposed to work? I did check the documentation last week (https://docs.evergreen-ils.org/eg/docs/latest/serials/B-serials_admin.html), but it doesn’t describe what’s supposed to happen. Is this working the way it is supposed to, or is there a bug?
If it is working as designed, then I don’t know what it would be used for. It doesn’t seem functional. Do not click links or open attachments unless you verify. Send all suspicious email as an attachment to Report Spam.<mailto:[email protected]> I’m working on an odd serial today. My experience with creating patterns in serials has been with XUL, but we’re now on the web interface (version 3.7.2). I’ve run into an issue with the Chronology Captions while trying to create a new pattern. The serial in hand uses traditional volume and number for enumeration, but is using “1st Quarter”, “2nd Quarter”, etc. for the chronology, rather than months or seasons. When I go to create a pattern and I get to the Chronology Display, I tried checking “Use Alternative Chronology Captions”, but that only gives me Level 1. There’s no option to get a second level for the Alternative captions. If I click Add Level, it only adds a level to “Use Chronology Captions”, not to the alternative chronology. And even if it did add to the alternative chronology, would there be any way to add a free text chronology? Under Alternative Chronology, Level 1 still gives you only the standard options in a dropdown. If I uncheck the Use Chronology Captions box, while leaving the Use Alternative Chronology Captions box checked, trying to get it to show only the Alternative Option, that gets rid of the chronology option entirely, and the section for the Alternative Chronology completely disappears. Is this a bug? I searched Launchpad, but couldn't find anything like this. I will say that I also miss the capability of simply pasting in a raw pattern code. I used to copy shared codes, or simply create my own in notepad and paste them into XUL. And I could test patterns that way until I found one that worked.
