Good morning and happy Monday Evergreen community!
As you may know, The Evergreen Project became incorporated in 2018 and was
granted status as a 501(c)3 organization in 2020. After a strategic planning
process, we are now ready to launch a membership program for folks to support
the work of the Project.

The 2026 Evergreen Project Board elections will be member-only, and open to
individual (whether paid, contribution-based, or granted as part of an
institutional membership) members of the Project. Memberships are available now
for the 2026 membership year, with more information on types of memberships and
their benefits at https://evergreen-ils.org/membership/.

This program is designed to provide support for the work of the open-source
project (and while membership has many benefits, it is not required for use of
the software or participation in the community at large) - and we hope that
many of you will join!

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions — and my deepest
gratitude to the current and past TEP boards as well as folks like our
Membership Model investigation committee — it has take a lot of hard work to
get to this point!

Katie
2025-2026 TEP board president

The Evergreen Project Is Now a Membership Organization

The board of The Evergreen Project (TEP), a 501(c)3 organization, is pleased to
announce that it has begun the transition to a membership-based model of
governance.

“We feel that offering memberships is the best way for us to continue to grow
our community, and support the wonderful work of libraries using the Evergreen
ILS,” says Katie Greenleaf Martin, President of the Evergreen Project Board.
“In particular, the contributor program will encourage our community members to
participate in Project governance and benefit from membership in the Project.”

Memberships are available now for the 2026 membership year, with more
information on types of memberships and their benefits at
https://evergreen-ils.org/membership/.

This change is part of the Project’s adoption of its 2025-28 Strategic Plan.
This plan is the product of a collaborative effort by many stakeholders in the
Evergreen open-source library software community with facilitation by Carson
Block Consulting, Inc.

The strategic plan outlines a vision for the continued transformation of TEP
into a self-sustaining non-profit organization providing reliable,
future-focused support for the Evergreen Community as well as advocacy for the
open-source Evergreen ILS.

Main goals of the strategic plan were to define a vision and priorities for
TEP, support engagement and provide leadership within the Evergreen Community,
and develop financial sustainability.

One benefit of membership is invitations to quarterly webinars on library
technology and open source software topics. The Evergreen Project is offering
its first webinar on December 3rd and invites anyone interested in membership
to join us.

AADL's Tool Booking Interface: an Evergreen Project webinar

Not long after AADL started circulating lawn games, event lighting, and other
party gear, patrons started asking for a way to reserve items for specific
dates. In response, AADL developed a custom web interface that allows patrons
to easily check availability of multiple items at once and make a single
booking for everything they need for their event. Of course, behind the scenes
in the Evergreen Bookings module, it's not that simple. Come see how AADL
introduced an interface that met patrons' web-native expectations while working
solely within the Evergreen Bookings system. Presented by AADL Director and
Vice President of The Evergreen Project board, Eli Neiburger.
