Thank you, Katie, for sharing this exciting news! As the former chair of the Membership Model investigation committee, I want to encourage Evergreen libraries and consortia to seriously consider allocating funds towards an institutional membership. Since the committee released its report a little more than a year ago, I know that future funding and the economy have become a huge concern for most of our libraries and consortia. However, a well-maintained and functional open-source integrated library system is one of the tools that will help everyone make it through times of budgetary uncertainty. A successful membership model will ensure the community is able to address project and software infrastructure issues that may not get attention when libraries are choosing how they want to improve the software. The sustainability of the Evergreen software is critical to the success of every library that uses it, and finding a level at which your organization can support the project financially is something everyone in this community can do to work towards that sustainability.
NOBLE will be signing up for a Gold membership today, and I hope to see other organizations signing up for the level that works best for them sometime soon. Many thanks to the TEP for all the work it's been doing for the betterment of the Evergreen project!
