Hi,

We are currently working on launching pickup lockers using the SIP2
protocol together with the vendor. As we are the first library with
Evergreen ILS using this type of locker, this brings us some questions.

1) To know where the patron wants to pick up the item on hold, we have
created a virtual library organizational unit called "Pickup Lockers."
However, I am not sure whether placing the "Pickup lockers" org unit in the
OU tree can have some consequences. Does it matter if the "locker's"
organizational unit is placed in the tree as a child of the home/owning
library branch or on the same level? Do you have any experience with this?

2) I would also like to ask how your lockers use SIP2 to obtain the email
address or phone number of the patron who has placed the hold so that the
lockers can, for example, send them a message with a code for picking up
their reservation.

We tried to solve this using a SIP Checkin request (09), but the problem is
that the request is made in a "different" organizational unit than the
"normal" library branch, and thus the status of the unit "on hold shelf"
switches to "In transit". H How could this be resolved?

Thank you in advance for any hint.

Eva
