Wow, I have to give you credit for chutzpah if not logical reasoning here!
I'm sure there is a word for this type of specious parallel-drawing. "Those
who ostracised Copernicus" were religious people who believed the creator
had put the world at the centre of the universe, which is "obviously" what
a creator would do with his chosen people.

I can think of a few other possible reasons for the prohibition against
cannibalism, one of which is the same as the prohibition against eating
pork - we can catch nasty diseases from doing it if we aren't careful.

And "1500 species that engage in devouring their own kind" is a drop in the
ocean with several million species of beetles on Earth alone.
