Hi Liz, I think that Tipler handbarrow were imagining a time in the office distant future when there would be such a superb amount of Higgs energy, or sheer energy that that would be power to recollapse the universe into what we would call Computronium. That according to Tipler is the cosmological anthropic singularity also known as God. Tiplers a solid Christian, so of course this singularity is triune. Hans Moravec took a more agnostic approach, and believed our descendents will re-create us as virtual-reality programs inside a very big virtual-reality program without having to collapse the universe. As Nick Bostrom might say, who knows maybe where this already virtual-reality characters inside a program? What's more troubling at least for me personally is that there has been virtually nobody to pick up the torch of Tipler or Moravec as far as reconstructing dead entities, also known as people. In my own stupid way, I have tried to understand Prof. Bruno Marchal's version of post mortality, but still cannot really connect with it intellectually. Ashamed to admit. -----Original Message----- From: LizR <lizj...@gmail.com> To: everything-list <everything-list@googlegroups.com> Sent: Fri, Nov 7, 2014 09:56 PM Subject: Re: Methusalem problem for MWI? <div id="AOLMsgPart_2_f224f1a2-d0e6-47f7-b96d-0aa72a6b9e21"> <div class="aolReplacedBody"> <div dir="ltr"> <div class="aolmail_gmail_extra"> <div class="aolmail_gmail_quote"> On 8 November 2014 12:55, spudboy100 via Everything List <span dir="ltr"><<a target="_blank" href="mailto:everything-list@googlegroups.com">everything-list@googlegroups.com</a>></span> wrote: <blockquote class="aolmail_gmail_quote" style="margin:0 0 0 .8ex;border-left:1px #ccc solid;padding-left:1ex"> <font color="black" face="arial"> <div> Just to throw my own opinion in, according to Moravec, QI isn't the primary method of immortality (or post mortality) it is the reconstruction of dead people via ultra-massive, computer re-simulation.
