Unfortunately, both can be a big threat at the same time. During the global
warming hiatus of the previous decade there might have been some leeway to hope
that the models were wrong, but not the empirical evidence is overwhelming.

Putin already has instant assurance of US destruction. Like the other major
nuclear powers, he has the nuclear trident.

Even if it did, this would be seen as a concession. Have you seen the reactions
to Elon Musk's recent tweet proposing a compromise? Independently of our
opinions on Musk, I assume that he has more privileged information than us, and
his tweet made me think that nuclear escalation is a real possibility at the
moment.

I agree that life is often about trade offs (not necessarily of a financial
nature), but I'm not sure how a profit motive could help here. What's your idea?

China developed a symbiotic relationship with the economy of the western world.
Putin is not acting as a rational economic agent, not even by a long shot. He
cares about other things.

Mr. Fusion Grill still seems to have some hairy theoretical problems to
overcome. The Coulomb barrier says hi.
