I am not an expert but I recently got my Palm m515 working with RedHat
8.
*First make sure the visor kernel module is loaded.
*If you are going to sync with Evolution then you need to configure
gpilotd. On RedHat I used the gpilotd-control-applet which can be
started through Evo in Tools->Pilot Settings. The applet starts/restarts
gpilotd but does not stop it.
*I don't know how Mandrake sets up usb but I had to use /dev/usb/ttyUSB1
to connect to my Palm. I think some PalmOS devices use /ttyUSB0 instead
so you may want to try that. I let gpilotd get the username and ID from
the pda since I had already set it up in Windows.
*Configure the conduits that you want in Evo through Tools->Pilot
Conduit Settings.
Remember if you want to use jpilot or pilot-xfer then make sure gpilotd
is NOT running or it won't work. One thing I get is that the first time
I sync after a reboot it will fail while the kernel loads the visor
module and then work fine after that.
