I had the exact same problem on a laptop that I used to have, and my Palm Vx. After getting really frustrated, I noticed something in passing in one of the docs. Go into your palm preferences->general and look for "Beam Receive". Make sure that is "on" (it had worked with Win2k with it off). Once that change was made, I had no problems.
