When we tested in our lab things went bad when we removed the last bdc, reading these responses now I can only assume PDCEM had a problem.

Our Ex55 likewise sits on a W2K member server. I am puzzled however by your comment on the NT BDC requirement. Ours has been removed and has had no impact what so ever. In fact, we removed it to facilitate and ease the PF migration to e2k3 when the time comes. We utilize the Ex55 DS DL security on many of the PF's. If my understanding of the documentation was correct you must be in native mode in order to utilize Universal Security groups to allow the security to transfer successfully. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, January 27, 2004 9:35 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Exchange 5.5 and AD Migration We just did this day before yesterday, we moved from NT4 to 2k3 AD and it was a breeze. OUr Exchange 5.5 server sits on another machine that is win2k. We are not 2k3 native and we still have one nt bdc running with 3 2k3 DC's. We are going to keep the NT bdc up till our ancient ras solution is gone(2 weeks) and our Exchange is ready to migrate to 2003(5 weeks). Your Exchange will run fine as long as its not on a domain controller and as long as you still have a NT bdc on your network that it can talk to. e- -----Original Message----- From: Lori Sagert [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, January 26, 2004 8:14 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Exchange 5.5 and AD Migration Hi all: Exchange 5.5 SP4 Windows 2000 SP4 NT4.0 domain Large Org (110 sites) We are in the process of designing our rollout of AD, however because of constraints at the Org level (Germany) we cannot migrate our 5.5 environment to Exchange 2000/2003 yet. Our migration design team is asking me to move the existing 5.5 servers on to the new AD domain as they wish to get rid of the old NT4.0 domain. After much googling, I'm can't find much about moving a Exchange 5.5 server to an AD domain without a Exchange 2000/2003 migration involved. I feel by us doing this we are going to be creating double the amount of work for ourselves just to get rid of an NT4.0 domain before we are allowed to migrate to E2K. Anybody have any ideas on what problems we might encounter and/or make for ourselves and the level of effort involved?
