>From what I've seen of Arcserve I wouldn't trust it to restore much of anything. Sure it works sometimes, but I wouldn't want to bet anything I cared about on it.
Brick level backups are a bad idea - there is indeed a greater chance of causing problems with the store imho, and you gain very little as you can work around most of the reasons you'd ever need to use a brick-level restore with just a bit of thought in E2K or E2K3. And this isn't about Arghserve, though I've certainly seen that do some..umm.. Interesting things with brick level backups... But rather than focus on brands of backup software, I think that BLBs are like a dangerous rock-face and changing the brand of rope and pitons you buy before starting to climb it doesn't do anything to make the climb safer because fundementally the danger isn't in the equipment you are using but in the mountain you are climbing. -- Robert Moir Microsoft MVP Senior IT Systems Engineer Luton Sixth Form College > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On > Behalf Of Mailing List > Sent: 06 February 2004 15:07 > To: Exchange Discussions > Subject: ArcServe and BrickLevel > > 1- Arcserve : I heard most IT using ArcServe are not able to > restore an Exchange from an ArcServe Backup > > Does anyone have comments ? > > Personnaly I love Veritas and want to convince my customer > but wanted to verify what other IT think about ArcServe > > 2- BrickLevel : is it true we can corrupt a Store with > BrickLevel Backup ?
