Hi,

More problems...

Today, many of our users are getting the "requesting data from Microsoft
exchange 2003 server" dialog.

Why is this ?

Exchange 2003
2.4Ghz Xeon, 1gb Ram, 100GB raid.
Only 125 users, 100mb max mailbox size.
Not much in the way of public folders.

GFI Mail Essentials
GFI Mail Security

Looking at task manager...

Store 30-45%
GFIScan 15-20%
Free 30-50%

These would normally be very low, every thing <5% with occasional peak
above 10%.

I have increased some of the diag logging for IS but nothing is showing
up in the event log.

This morning I thought I would try restarting Store, but it would not
shutdown. (perhaps I was impatient)
I ended up restarting the server.

MTA and Store did not auto start, I had to manually start them after
about 5 mins after the server came back up.

It happened again later on, I have perfmon watching a few counters...

Nothing or very little in the queues, normal CPU usage, normal disk
usage, normal RPC usage, then bam, CPU goes up to previously mentioned
levels and RPC Averaged Latency just keep climbing. Keeps climbing
(14000 before last reboot.)

No one can connect with Outlook and eventually I can't Remote Desktop
the machine, and I have reboot the server.
I can never shutdown Store.exe when this happened, so I'm thinking that
it is waiting for some other process to achieve something or to respond
to Stores request and it just never happens.

Messages do get processed though, the queues don't really start piling
up.

any ideas ?
any other info I can get to help diagnose this problem.

I'm getting grumbles from management, not surprisingly, Monday morning
with no email etc.
