If you restore a backup of the same Active Directory on a disconnected network, and then install Exchange with the exact same organization and site name, you should be able to restore the database, yes. You don't have an Exchange-aware backup?

I do know the name of the user account. My plan is to get the database up long enough for me to run Exmerge and yank the mailbox into a .pst file. Given that, I realize that I'll need to build a server to install the .edb files onto. If I build an SBS 2000 box, using the same domain name, and add the user account, should I be able to get to the data with relative little pain?
