I have long since stopped being surprised at the lack of mention of
Sophos. I have used Sophos for the past 7-8 years and have been VERY
happy with it. Their support has been top notch. But for some reason it
gets very little press in the US and this listserv. The sad thing is
that I have been able to sit back and watch other companies (both big
and small) go down and we have had little to no problems with viruses.
We have NEVER taken our mail server off line. We have never taken out
network down. We just keep Sophos up to date and everyone is happy. It
is so effective that I have taken to chastising any company that sends
'you are infected' messages to our users. Without even checking the
users station! Oh, sure, thee has been the occasional laptop or users
computer that has received a infection. It never spreads, and the root
cause has always been the user.

There are several other good companies out there as well as Sophos, but
Sophos really does deserve some mention.
