Errors in the event logs? You may have nothing more than a corrupt email or
perhaps are scanning the exch dirs with a flat file AV scanner.
No backups? Why not take one now?

Subject: Corrupt priv.edb

Hi I have a nt 4.0 sp6 server running 5.5 sp4 with a corrupt priv.edb.

Brings the server down every 3-4 hours with store.exe at 100 percent cpu.

No back ups are at hand!! I'm going to exmerge all mail boxes stop the
exchange server Delete the priv.edb start the exchange server it should
create a new priv.edb (right) and then Exmerge all the data back in.

Does this sound good. When I delete the old priv.edb does this delete all
inboxes also or should I do this manually and then recreate all inboxes.

I know I should also remove the log files. Can anyone give me the exact
names and folders of these Logs that Should be removed?!

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Matt
