Plus what's faster - restoring one huge information store (if a disaster strikes) or one of the smaller ones?
You see, with Exchange 5.5 Enterprise you are lured into further growing your information store. I think the real theory with building a large enterprise edition server is that it is 'large', has multiple redundant components and highly resilient to failure. A $2,600 server is not going to be as resilient. I guess it's just different strokes for different organizational needs, but I do still accept your point though, as we had to make a decision about purchasing enterprise edition last year as well. We considered a second server, but in the end it was just more straightforward, and one less server to manage, to plump up for the enterprise upgrade.
