Yo, Tony! Ask your SAN team to explain how EMC violates the fundamental laws of physics. When they fail to be able to explain it, tell them to give them what they want.
Drive heads simply can't be in two places at once. Period. Which means that if you carve multiple LUNs from a single RAID group, you're going to have I/O contention at some level - the heavier the load the more likely you'll experience contention.
