I would think yes, if eseutil were unable to read the chk file, it would barf. It could also be that the edb.chk points to an incorrect or corrupted log file.

We did try using NT backup loaded on a WIN2000 server with the Exchange Admin installed. It backed up the data but did not clear the logs. We are having a hard time dumping arcserve in this location.
