Oh, sometimes after uninstalling 3.81 and rebooting it may help to go
through the file system and the registry and manually remove ScanMail 3.81
residue.

Subject: ScanMail Upgrade Problem

I'm trying to upgrade from 3.81 to 3.82 of ScanMail on my Ex5.5 box, with
all service packs for Windows and Exchange installed.

I've stopped all the Trend services and the IS as it recommends in the
Readme. The install program notes that it's an upgrade and says its
installing and starting the services, but when it gets to the end it says
the Installation failed. There is no detailed error, and nothing in the
event log.

The ScanMail install that I have is on drive F:, which may be the problem
since when it connects to the server it uses C$. But I'm running the
install on the actual Exchange server, so you wouldn't think that would be a
problem.

Any advice gratefully received!

        Tim
