I was going to try to exmerge mailboxes then import them into the new server. Also, I thought that I could not put new server with same name in because of the different sids. So I was going to try and add the new server to the site and have it ready to import in users mailboxes if the other failed during the repair. Is there a way to have both exchange servers up and running and switch to the "backup" if need be? I think that this should tell you that your time would be better spent devoting your energy toward beefing up your storage subsystem so that you don't get -1018s.
