Eseutil isn't that bad.  I've used it numerous of times with success.

I don't think any of the eseutil utilities should be used unless you
absolutely have to, myself.  Some of them can be really destructive.  My
rule of thumb with eseutil is always run it on a COPY of the d/b.  Keep
the original.  Eseutil can do some ... unanticipated things.  Like
delete the entire attachment table.

Never, ever use eseutil /p if you don't have to.  Like if all your
backups have failed and your information store won't start.  Even then,
run it on a COPY.
