I guess I'm the only a**hole around here. I limit everyone to 50MB. No exceptions. The #1 complaint I get about email (well, other than the people who are offended that we block their phishing spams) is that it's too slow. I try to point out to people that a large inbox will respond much more slowly, will be much more difficult to organize, will be hell to restore, and recovery is not guaranteed. I encourage people to store data elsewhere, not as emails.
I'm still using Exchange 5.5 - until probably this winter - so that's partly a factor.
