This is something that seems to be different for every company and every
style of spam scoring. We have had multiple emails bounce because of HTML
only to have the same message get right thru to AOL, etc. What we finally did
was to inform our users a few times that such things as HTML can contribute
to any give email being block a bit more than straight text.

Should you give into multiple links pointing to the same area, the same .gif
being used as a spacer over and over again, etc., the scoring may be high
enough to put it on the Spam pile. There are also people out there who use
text phones still to read their message, may not be able to read HTML
messages. The other problem we have seen is when there is a virus outbreak,
or some vulnerability found in HTML rendering on Windows boxes, the next week
or two, HTML emails tend to go to the Spam dump also.
