The nslookup you did proves you have a problem with domain name resolution on the server. You do not have a problem with exchange per se
Do an ipconfig /all to see if the right dns servers are listed for the network connection. You may have a firewall issue on the server, router etc or the dns server does not consider the server part of the AD domain? I don't know if query refused means you got to the server and it refused it or you never got to the server Have look at http://www.unix.org.ua/orelly/networking/dnsbind/ch11_07.htm This is unix specific but may be of some help Obtained from http://www.google.com/search?q=%22Query+refused%22+nslookup&rls=com.micr osoft:*&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1 Which will give you some links to work through to help you diagnose Quick solutions is that if on the boston server you have a configuration to forward all emails to mainserver.krakhead.com change the config and use the *ipaddress* of mainserver.krakhead.com. this will bypass the dns issue in the short term. hth -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Stephen Reboulet Sent: Thursday, 23 August 2007 15:12 To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Having an issue with outgoing emails staying in the smtp connector queue Evening. (sorry if this is a bit long) Hoping someone might have some ideas. We're configured with 2 remote offices, 1 main office. Total of 5 Exchange servers (including Webmail, etc). All exchange servers go through main office to send/receive outside emails. (Exchange 2003, SP2) Everything has been running fine until yesterday afternoon. We noticed that our remote Boston Exchange server no longer will relay outgoing emails. Any emails inter-office (Boston to other offices) will be delivered, emails from the outside to Boston will be received, but that's it. All outgoing Boston emails just sit in the SMTP Connector Queue on the Boston server. I can see the emails under Exchange System Manager: Administrative Groups -> First Administrative Group -> Servers - Boston Mailserver - Queues - xxx-SMTP - _0c(lots of numbers)(SMTP Connector). I've reinstalled Exchange, and reapplied Service Pack 2 on all the servers in the event something cracked, no luck. I've purged the log files in the event something was corrupt, nothing. one thing I did notice is if I type NSLOOKUP, I get: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator >nslookup *** Can't find server name for address 68.87.71.226: Query refused Default Server: UnKnown Address: 68.87.71.226 On other exchange servers I get: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator >nslookup Default Server: internal dnd server name (name removed by author) Address: 10.10.10.4 I can't see any reason for this error, nothing in the event logs to show. The server has our internal DNS servers entered (I've reentered then several times), so it should be showing: Default Server: local remote office DNS server(name removed by author) Address: 10.10.20.2 or even Default Server: main office dns server (name removed by author) Address: 10.10.10.4 Emails sent by other servers process find, and if I open up a user account on that server and resend from my account, it's delivered fine (since it's using my mail server). Do you have any ideas as the mail queue is filling up? Also, if anyone knows how I can copy these emails from this Queue into one of the other servers so they can send it out? I've looked at the usual places: Exchsrvr - Mailroot - VSI 1 but it was empty. Thank you. _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/read/?forum=exchange To subscribe: http://e-newsletters.internet.com/discussionlists.html/ To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe via postal mail, please contact us at: Jupitermedia Corp.
