If you rebuild the server using the /disasterrecovery switch you can delete
the new store, log and checkopint files (basically all the MDBDATA stuff)
that are created (don't let anyone log on or mail to flow to the server
first!) and replace them with the old files.

Subject: Help lost operating system on exchange server

 help!

We have an exchange 2003 server whose system disk is scragged (don't
ask) It is part of a site and the other server is OK.

We assume the database and logs are OK, (but inaccessible for the
moment)

Does anyone have a link to how ro recover? Everything I google seems to
assume the opposite, the data has gone.

If we rebuild the server how do we relink the database?

Can we mount the database on another existing server and connect to it?

Any advice would be gratefully received. A KB for exactly this situation,
call pss,
