We currently have a Exchange 2003 deployment with front-end and back-end
servers. One of our Front-end Servers that is configured for OWA/IMC
access is currently End of Life and needs to be replaced. My question
is since we need to get a new machine in-house and we need to prepare
for migrating to Exchange to 2007, would this be a good opportunity to
extend the schema out and replace that front-end server as a Exchange
2007/sp1 Client Access and Hub server? I read that there are some new
active sync polices/features available in 2007/sp1 that look
interesting. Are the Active Synch client features such as Out of Office
and wipe linked to the Client Access server role or do the front and
backends all need to be 2007 for users to take advantage of the new
features. I'm also to understand that ActiveSync is faster and I hope
some of the hot fixes have been rolled into SP1 since we do have
intermittent problems with the 2003 version on large mailboxes and such.
