ok, now we're gettin' somewhere. This makes me think that it isn't
individual users, but the OWA server itself. Has anything changed? Did the
Exchange server change?

Yes, if clients can't connect to owa, because the owa server Failed to
connect to the mailserver, we are able to ping the server.
We also can browse the default website, IIS keeps on running. The problem
occurs when owa tries to open a mailbox.

Before owa tries to open a mailbox, the user must be validated by a PDC or
BDC. The same credentials are used to open a mailbox.
When the owa server can't connect ot the mailserver, the users are still
able to be validated, there are no problems there. After validation, the owa
service tries to connect to a exchange server and can't.

maybe, although I've not heard of DNS errors that "get worse".

When Exchange locks, can you still ping the actual server?

Not at all.
The processor is being used for about 10% at the most and with memory no
problems also.

I have a DNS server in the network.
Could there be a problem with DNS?

Do you have DNS or WINS running at all? it sounds to me like that's a
memory leak or something -- does the processor or RAM become completely used
up?

Hello

After a few days it's impossible to connect to it, the only thing i can do
is rebooting the server.

We have no DNS or WINS running on the server and there is a seperate
exchange server which is connected to a lot exchange servers.

We've a isa-server in our DMZ which functions as a portal to the owa server.
The owa-server is setup with W2K-advanced server (iis 5.0) and owa 5.5, SP4.
All of our exchange servers are WinNT 4.0 and Exchange 5.5 SP4.

Could there be a problem with connectivity between W2K and WinNT 4.0?

Define "really hard". Is is the same interval every time? How do you get
it back to letting you connect -- rebooting?

Are you running DNS? WINS? LMHOSTS? How is the OWA server set up? Is
there a seperate exchange server?

What's the versions? They are the same version, right?

Paper or plastic? Demoblican or Republicrat? Lefty or rightly?

Hello

I have an owa server running on my network. It runs just fine for an few
days, after that it becomes really hard to connect to it.
The message my clients receive is: Failed to connect to the microsoft
exchange server <servername>.

I have tried everything to prevent this from happening, but failed at every
attempt.

If anyone has suggestions or ideas, they're welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Mahesh Bharatsingh
