It is prompting you for *your* username and password so you can login to *your* mailbox. Administrator does not have access to your mailbox by default. I installed Service Pack 2 immediately after the install. I always do that with every MS Product I install. Believe me, instead of the Admin username - I tried the User Account that was setup for the POP3 and SMTP virtual servers (which is working flawlessly using an E-mail client). I keep getting "Access Denied". I consider myself a pretty good investigative tech when it comes to MS Products - as I've been doing this for quite some time. I also made sure that I went into the user level settings using the Active Directory utility, and made sure that HTTP was activated for this particular user. By default, it is checked on - based on what the whitepapers said. This particular user, is the one that can successfully POP their e-mail under their respective virtual POP3 and SMTP servers on the Exchange box. I am truly baffled by this one. There is another concern that I have too - and that is, there are 3 Virtual Directories under IIS that I believe are not properly configured or something. These are called "public", "exchange" and "exadmin" - and they all have the red ERROR icon representing the top of the expandable tree - indicating to me that something isn't right with that virtual directory setup. Now the REALLY weird thing, is that I can go to the properties of each Virtual Directory that Exchange created, and re-establish the path once again, then hit "OK", and the icon goes back to normal - indicating that all is well. Well, the information settings with the error condition existing, are the SAME settings that exist, when the error disappears. This statement applies to the "public" and "exchange" Virtual Directories. The "exadmin" is the one that's the most weirded out. This particular virtual directory points to a path called "\\.\BackOfficeStorage" - what the heck is that? I can't locate that directory anywhere on the system - so I can only assume that it's part of that "M" drive setup - but even then, I can't seem to locate it on there either. So now with this additional information, could someone please offer some more ideas as to what I should do, or where I should be looking for answers? Thanks for everything! Let me first say that I have extensive Internet experience behind me, and have been working with every mail server under the sun over the years. Exchange however, always has come off more complex than it needed to be - but I know that Exchange is an incredible solution. I have limited experience with Exchange 5.5, but I am now installing Exchange 2000 - and I am experiencing some problems. I set up a virtual POP3 and SMTP domain for one of our customers - and I have POP3 and SMTP working properly. I can use Outlook 2K to access my mailbox - and all works beautifully. BUT when I try to access the mail server using the Web Interface, I am having tons of problems. I keep getting access denied, or simply no pages coming up at all. I checked all the IIS settings, and things seem to be pointing to the correct directories according to the Docs I have been reading up on. After installing Exchange 2000 onto my Windows 2000 Server machine, it created a new drive called "M" - and that's what IIS refers to for all the Virtual Directory stuff. And troubleshooting processes to - My environment is as follows: I have a Windows 2000 Server Domain Controller so that provides all the Active Directory stuff. Then my Exchange 2000 Server is a standalone server that "belongs" to the domain. It's not setup as a backup controller or anything like that.
