Yes, Ed, I don't really know what I am doing with this. And it turns out
the user had made a mistake. But it would be handy to learn how to prove
that there is nothing wrong in the system.

What exactly did you look up? NS1 implies a name server.

OK, I did a NSlookup and get two entries; NS1.WESTGROUP.NET and
NS2.WESTGROUP.NET. So I used NS1.WESTGROUP.NET to replace everything
after the @ which was westpub.com. And now I do not receive an error.
Might this indicate a DNS problem somewhere?

Delete the address in the Contacts list, and type it in correctly. If
this doesn't work, do an NSlookup on the domain name and see what
happens. If nothing comes back, you're typing it in wrong. If
something does come back, then you are typing the user portion in
incorrectly.

Pulling the address from Contacts, but manually typing email address,
does the same thing.

How is the user addressing the mail? Is she manually addressing the
message, or pulling the address from her contacts? Can you send a
message to the external recipient? Not just sure what you mean by
external recipient, the Hot Mail account we tested from?
