OK, just going by your original figures - 27g, 25g free. -----Original Message----- From: Sauer, Steve [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 2:49 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: Exchange 5.5 IS disk at 100% utilization - HELP! Primary partition for the "system" is on a different spindle from the IS and log files. System, directory, log files and IS each have their own spindles. Primary partition free space is 2.6 Gb or 66%. The disk utilization, % read time, is for the IS only. All other spindles are at or below 1%. Only about 7% free on your primary partition? Depending on how big your paging file is, that's not enough free space. Try and move some stuff off that drive or consider more/bigger disks. -----Original Message----- From: Steve Sauer [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 2:33 PM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: Exchange 5.5 IS disk at 100% utilization - HELP! Around 4:00 pm last night, as close as I can tell, I received a few scattered reports that one of my Exchange servers was responding veeeeeeeery slowly. I took a look and didn't immediately see anything wrong -- My Outlook was responding normally. This morining the Helpdesk got flooded with calls about slow response time. I dug much deeper and didscovered that the disk containing the Information Store was pegged at 100% utilization. Every 25 minutes or so the utilization drops to about 10-20% for 2-3 minutes and then pegs again. I have run a manual virus scan which turned up nothing, Checked the event logs for maintenance processes still running and found nothing, rebooted the server and the utilization returned to 100%, Stopped the event service with no luck, stopped OWA with no luck. This is the first time in 5 years of running Exchange I have had something like this. Exchange 5.5 SP3 Win NT 4.0 SP5 Compaq 3000 Dual 600 MHz processors 512 Mb ram IS disk is raid 5 27 GB 25 GB used Log disk is raid 1 8GB CPU utilization is 15% average during peak usage IS has 493 MB free space after online Defrag. Thanks in advance for your great support.
