Over here in the uk working for a small co (salaried), got it written into my contract that I get overtime for 'special circumstance'. Eg if a server goes down or an upgrade goes wrong and I'm here till 3 in the morning then I'd get time and a half but if I stay till 7pm instead of 5.30 pm then I wouldn't get anything. No arrangement for time in lieu tho.
