Are you sure? Their mom is really really good with computers. :)

oh I forgot that part, I have actually been very lucky with our users,
since we started to use SUS and we(IT) expressed to them that:
1) all updates are automagic, just turn on your system if it needs to
reboot don't worry it will. :-)
2) no you can't stop it. :-)
3) no Microsoft does not send out the patch via e-mail.
4) yes we are sure that Microsoft doesn't do that, let your mom know she
is incorrect.
5) excuse me but what does your mom do, really that's nice, would she
like some assistance with her next delivery? I would love to help her
out since she is being so helpful to us.
6) no I won't stop blocking all those important attachments you need to
get, but if you let me know the name, I can scan it and then make sure
it gets to you (strangely I haven't gotten many request for elfbowl yet.
7) your delete key is magic, press it and those little buggers go away

Hit the delete key and educate my users that Microsoft will never send
them a patch via e-mail

We exercise the magic delete key, yes it's a manual, however it has been
proven to be very accurate. We are still looking into some sort of
Anti-Spam product, but it's been pushed down the list of important
things to do.

Hi all. We are receiving a lot of these bogus messages every day - "bug
notice", "failure message", "report", "error advice", "bug
announcement", etc. Some of them have a fake Microsoft address in the
from line. They seem to be generated by a virus. Our antivirus programs
(SurfControl and NAVEX) catch and kill the virus, but the messages still
get through. They don't seem to have any consistent subject or From
address...

It seems that other organizations should be affected too, I am just
wondering how others are dealing with these messages.

Thanks!
