But I want it to, our updates are scheduled for 4 in the morning with a 1 min retry, so when they boot it will check right then and there. If it's going to reboot the users knows before they can even start anything. When we went live with SUS we told the users to start their systems and logon, then go get their coffee and start their day. So far we have gotten only one or two complaints. The plus side is that we found out what users were not logging off before they went home....

If you have downloaded the new .adm file for SUS, you can specify that if a user is logged on, it will not reboot them. We had our updates set to run at noon, and got lots of complaints that they couldn't stop the reboot. Since most everyone here (except me) turns off their computers at night, this works well for us. Subject: RE: how does everyone fight this spam? oh I forgot that part, I have actually been very lucky with our users, since we started to use SUS and we(IT) expressed to them that: 1) all updates are automagic, just turn on your system if it needs to reboot don't worry it will. :-) 2) no you can't stop it. :-) 3) no Microsoft does not send out the patch via e-mail. 4) yes we are sure that Microsoft doesn't do that, let your mom know she is incorrect. 5) excuse me but what does your mom do, really that's nice, would she like some assistance with her next delivery? I would love to help her out since she is being so helpful to us. 6) no I won't stop blocking all those important attachments you need to get, but if you let me know the name, I can scan it and then make sure it gets to you (strangely I haven't gotten many request for elfbowl yet. 7) your delete key is magic, press it and those little buggers go away -----Original Message----- From: Christopher Hummert [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, October 07, 2003 11:23 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: RE: how does everyone fight this spam? We exercise the magic delete key, yes it's a manual, however it has been proven to be very accurate. We are still looking into some sort of Anti-Spam product, but it's been pushed down the list of important things to do. -----Original Message----- From: Fyodorov, Andrey [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, October 07, 2003 9:34 AM To: Exchange Discussions Subject: how does everyone fight this spam? Hi all. We are receiving a lot of these bogus messages every day - "bug notice", "failure message", "report", "error advice", "bug announcement", etc. Some of them have a fake Microsoft address in the from line. They seem to be generated by a virus. Our antivirus programs (SurfControl and NAVEX) catch and kill the virus, but the messages still get through. They don't seem to have any consistent subject or From address... It seems that other organizations should be affected too, I am just wondering how others are dealing with these messages. Thanks! _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=& lang =english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=& lang=english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=& lang =english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=& lang=english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang =english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED] _________________________________________________________________ List posting FAQ: http://www.swinc.com/resource/exch_faq.htm Web Interface: http://intm-dl.sparklist.com/cgi-bin/lyris.pl?enter=exchange&text_mode=&lang=english To unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Exchange List admin: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
