Sure
it's "OK", it's not standard practice, but it's OK. I don't always follow
MS's directions either. If it works in your environment, then cool.
Personally, from the sounds of it, you have a multitude of servers at
each site. That said, I would have to wonder why you'd put exchange on a
DC. If I've got hardware to work with, I much prefer to put application
servers on stand-alone servers. Saves the resources for the applications
instead.
