Technically yes you can do it.  depending on your machine spec and number of users you should have not major problems. It is recommended that you do not do it  for two reasons:.

 

1. It will make  it harder to diagnose server or exchange or AD issues.

2. Microsoft needs a few extra buck and wants your hardware vendor to make a few bucks.

Anyone here see any problems with running Exchange 5.5 on an Active Directory Domain controller?

Ive been running 10 of them like that for a year with ZERO problems. I have a new guy who is complaining about us doing that.
