Content Index Files in Exchange 2000

I have not really much knowledge in this area specifically, so forgive me if what I am about to ask sounds completely loopy :-)   I am having some disk space issues, and am noticing the directory which stores CI files is about 1.5 GB. Can this be safely moved to another partition? If so, how?
