Here is what I have: Some computers as MACHINE1.SUB.DOMAIN.NET MACHINE2.SUB.DOMAIN.NET MACHINE3.SUB.DOMAIN.NET
I also have machines in a nat on MACHINE4.SUB.DOMAIN.NET with MACHINE1.HIDDEN.NET MACHINE2.HIDDEN.NET MACHINE3.HIDDEN.NET ... behind it I also have an exchange server 5.5 on the border. MAIL.SUB.DOMAIN.NET and MAIL.HIDDEN.NET I have 2 NT4 domains behind NAT. I do not control the outside DNS, but an existing Active Directory Forest exists as: DOMAIN.NET but no Exchange server exists or Active DNS, only legacy Unix DNS/Email. -------------------------------------------------------------- Here is what I want: Move to Active Directory inside the firewall. Move the Exchange server off the border to inside. Upgrade to Exchange 2000. -------------------------------------------------------------- My concerns when working in my test lab: How do I get Exchange to work properly inside as outside. (MAIL.SUB.DOMAIN.NET & MAIL.HIDDEN.NET or MAIL.LOCALHOST or whatever...) What should I need to name my Internal Domain/Forest? I am not worried about migration at this time. I plan to use trusts to migrate NT4/Exchange5.5 to New servers. I am worried about the implications of mis-naming my 2000 domain.
