The problem you will find here is that because the IMS is actually an EDK gateway, the MTA will not re-route messages to a different IMS. Basically, once the MTA has deposited the messages in the queue for the IMS, that's where they stay.
What you could consider is putting both IP addresses of your two Linux boxes into the one IMS. On the connections tab, specificy both IP addresses with a comma, e.g. "10.1.1.1,10.1.1.2" etc. This produces a reasonable load balancing act between the two Linux boxes. Obviously, inbound messages will be load balanced if your MX records are set to the same preference. Right now, Exchange points to a Linux box running sendmail as our method of sending / receiving Internet mail. The networking guys want to add a second Linux box (with it's own MX record) and a higher cost so that if the first box goes down mail would automatically flow to the second box. I'm not sure how to do this on the Exchange side. If I add a second IMS connector in Exchange how do I control which one is actively used? The goal is to have this roll over automatically. mit freundlichen Grüßen,(Best Regards), Steve Ropiak ZF Group NAO CERT, Exchange Administrator (207) 989-9115 voice (207) 989-8722 fax (513) 317-0197 cell [EMAIL PROTECTED] List Charter and FAQ at: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/exchange_list_charter.htm ********************************************************************** This email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the use of the individual to whom it is addressed.
