I'm not going anywhere. But, I spent too many hours tracking down a stupid striped attachment problem with a POP3 gateway in a Brazilian ISP.

I think you will find that somewhere along the way, you will see a POP3 gateway. This is probably your problem, POP3 gateways have a tendency to strip out attachments.
