Anyone has a formula
to calculate the actual file size after conversion
to mail
attachment. Say as example I have a Word doc, since
this is binary file,
it is 8-bits. When I attach this Word doc as
mail attachment,
since SMTP protocol only supports ASCII,
the MIME protocol
will convert the 8-bits binary to ASCII - 7 bits, so
definitely the size
of the file will grow.
I have been telling
my users to expect a 12-15% growth, based purely
on my own
estimate. Just check anyone has the exact formula or
any reference
