Michael,

A quick search of MS Support on 1080 states that the Tran Log(s) are missing.  I see two possibilities.

  1. Tran Log location on recovery server isn’t in the same location as the original server.
  2. You may have done a no loss restore which leaves the DB in an inconsistent state, so tran logs can be replayed at IS start.

Michael,

You said you restored the DB with a no loss restore.  Did you copy the salvaged Tran Logs from the original server to the recovery server?

What errors are in the event log?  Was the original server WinNT 4.0?  If so there should be an error in the event log stating that you need to defrag the DB.  Do that and it should be running again.
